For the seventh year in a row and just in time for Veterans Day, Victory Media has named Edinboro University to its coveted “Military Friendly® Schools” list.
Victory Media states that this honor is awarded to the institutions that are doing the most to embrace military students and dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.
The Veterans Success Center (VSC) manages Edinboro’s resources for veterans, current service members and their dependents. It ensures that these students receive not only the university’s high-quality and affordable education but also individualized support services. The VSC also places emphasis on making the transition from the military to college life a smooth one.
Edinboro’s Student Veterans Association also plays a large role in ensuring veterans find a welcoming home at the university. The group hosts many events throughout the year, such as the Pets and Vets PTSD and Service Fair each Veterans Day, Professional Photo Day, and Not-so-Mandatory Fun Day.
Its aim is to raise awareness in the community of military and veteran issues as well as to offer support to veterans both on campus and in the surrounding community.
Edinboro University will mark Veterans Day on Friday with a solemn community observance at 11 a.m. on the front lawn of Reeder Hall, 219 Meadville St., Edinboro, and the third annual Pets and Vets event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Frank G. Pogue Student Center gymnasium.
